Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Hi, how can I help you? Let’s take a look at your project and see how we can get it done efficiently, affordable, and with great craftsmanship. Depending on how big the project is, we’ll write up an estimate, or troubleshoot the issues within 2 hours on site/service call.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
4 years schooling and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training as an apprentice. There is a mandatory 15 hour electrical code training every two years. I’m also always studying the electrical code book, and learning better ways to install.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was snowboarding with friends on a cold winter in 2007 haha, and on the drive up to the mountain we talked about our career’s and different jobs we had. One of them mentioned there was a job opening for an electrical apprentice at his company. Gave my job 2 weeks notice and rest is history!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Homeowner, contractors, real estate agents, and anyone who needs an electrician.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Just finished a mini split/power disconnect job. On the exterior of the home, we ran some conduit, and mounted the disconnect with a surge protector. It was a clean installation. On the inside, we ran our feed in a drop ceiling about 50’. Wire was stapled up high and out of the way of ceiling tiles and lastly terminated into the 200amp service panel to a gfci breaker. Any mess that was made was swept and vacuumed up. Job took 6 hours. Customer was very happy with the job, and even paid me extra! That speaks volume to me, because I know cost is always a major hurdle, but always remember that this is an investment to your home. It will last a lifetime!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure they are insured, and that they are actually licensed electricians. If someone without an electrical license works on your homes electrical, they may not have the proper insurance coverage. If an electrical fire occurs, you may be stuck paying the bill.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have a list ready with all electrical work needed. If drawings/prints are available, have those ready and available to share. Any equipment or special devices being installed, have information on that ready as well. We’ll also help to ask the right questions needed, to complete the project.
