What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I discount jobs if I am out for multiple task. If i am out to install a doorbell camera and you need a garbage disposal as well i discount the job because i don't have to redeploy to your home.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Talk on the phone or meet to see what you need to have completed, from that I can give you an estimate.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My career is in Network Cabling and I am a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD). I have worked decades installing cables into businesses and homes, including hanging Displays (TV's) and designing solutions to get the signal to where you need it. Wired or wireless. That said I have experience doing multiple jobs to fill in gaps in labor. Mostly electric and appliance installation with some plumbing.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Family friends and co-workers kept telling me that projects around my home and theirs that I find easy are not easy for most people. That i should put myself out there to fill in the niche for odd jobs around the home that people can't do or don't know how.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All types. Residential, Commercial new home purchases and long time residents. I even have a couple elderly customers that call me for the quick fixes that their kids just can't get to them in time.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

a customer needed internet to the 3rd floor of their new home but there was no direct path without hanging cable outside of the home. I was able to find a solution that utilized the installed coax cable (cable tv) with converter boxes to get gigabit speeds to the 3rd floor of the home. much easier, cleaner and cheaper than having to hang wire outside.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

ask your community first, there just might be someone around the corner that can do it. Word of mouth is powerful.
