Introduction

Life can be hard! There are times when life deals us with circumstances that we aren’t sure how to maneuver. Sometimes life is just plain confusing, & it can be hard to comprehend how to move forward. The teens, couples, & adults that we see often struggle with managing difficult emotions, anxiety, depression, and/or challenging behaviors. They have often experienced painful things in the past that they have buried. This is where counseling could come in as a tool...one of the biggest benefits of therapy is having a safe place to share how you are doing & feeling. A place to explore thoughts & feelings using clay, art, & horses. It can be really difficult and daunting to schedule an appointment and many people have negative views of counseling. But what if you could start connecting with yourself or your loved one in a deep and meaningful way? What if you could actually feel heard and communicate what you need from your partner or spouse and you could also reach them and give them what they need? Imagine seeing your life thriving; feeling happiness again, not waking up with dread or anxiety in your body! Having your relationship and seeing your family thrive because you invested in each other. If you don't reach out, we won't be able to help you. Our underlying approach can be described as being unique, supportive, and relationship-based. We integrate research & evidence-based strategies and can also incorporate clay art therapy, and equine (horse) assisted counseling or life coaching. Our evidence-based strategies include Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman methods for relationship counseling. We also have Christian counselors who can integrate the Christian faith and Biblical principles into your sessions as requested. Please know that we work with people from ALL backgrounds, including different religious and belief systems. We accept self-pay/private pay for life coaching and counseling. We also accept these insurances for counseling: Aetna United Healthcare Cigna

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
After I graduated college I worked in an opiate treatment center as a certified opiate addictions counselor for six years. I later went back to school to get my Masters in Professional Counseling from a CACREP-accredited university. I have always loved working with people and helping them overcome and navigate life's challenges. I enjoy doing Equine-assisted therapy, CBT, and EMDR.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I enjoy working with all ages from 15 years on up and have expertise in particular with adolescents, women, and couples. Relationship issues (intimacy and communication), depression, anxiety, excessive perfectionism, trauma, stress, grief/loss, anger management, and vocational burnout are among the many issues I enjoy helping my clients work through. I also enjoy helping moms in every season of their life. Along with evidence-based practices, I provide direction, compassion, and support to help you heal and achieve your goals. I see you as the expert and I'm here to help guide you! Together we will walk through what you are going through to create the best plan. I also provide EMDR, and horse-assited interventions. As a Christian counselor, I believe my faith guides me in the counseling process with each person I see. Please know, however, that I work with people from all backgrounds, including religious and non-religious belief systems. I do not seek to impose my beliefs upon others, but I do recognize that my beliefs impact and shapes my work with clients. I am very respectful and am ethical when working with my clients. I want them to feel safe and secure.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
You should feel heard and the counselor needs to be a good listener. The therapeutic relationship is so important as you work together in order to accomplish your goals. I always try to create the space necessary for a therapeutic relationship to grow and my clients always remark how safe they feel and that they could "talk to me all day".
